music album REVIEW:

- Front Line Assembly: "Epitaph" (2001)

A comparatively late work by the veteran Canadian electro industrial duo which was even touted as a "come-back" at the time it came out. I only know a few other albums out of their extensive back catalogue, and this one stands out head and shoulders.

It's complex electronics, sound-wise more than in terms of musicality, the vocals are mostly heavily treated (most industrial musicians can't really sing well), but here and there there's even clear vocals with clear melodies – and these are the best moments too. It's all very atmospheric and some big harmonies occasionally lift it the music into the epic.

And not a non-dark moment.
