Brandenburg 'euthanasia' centre

The site of one of the six euthanasia centres of the "Action T4" in Nazi Germany. In fact the centre at Brandenburg was the place where the first gas chamber "tests" took place in January 1940, before the method was applied on a truly industrialized scale first at Grafeneck, then at the other designated euthanasia centres (and later also the concentration camps and, ultimately, the death camps of the Holocaust).
  
Unlike the other five places, Brandenburg lacked a proper memorial centre for over 70 years. There were merely a few text plaques in the heart of the city of Brandenburg/Havel, at Neuendorfer Straße. Later a monument representing the grey buses that were used for the transport of the victims was added to the site too.

But now a new memorial centre and exhibition are under construction – by the time you read this it will have opened its door to the public. Until then, a single memorial room at the authentic place inside the still active prison can (could) be visited on a guided tour by prior appointment only.
  
Once I've had a chance to check out the new memorial myself, I'll report back here.
