initium et finis

Since 2008 artist Matthias Korb has been working on this massive collection, which fills several rooms, attics and barns of an old former farm building. In it are amassed countless individual sculptures, unusual objects and collages that together form a ‘Gesamtkunstwerk’ (a difficult to translate term, roughly meaning something like oeuvre or comprehensive work).
You can visit Initium et Finis, which, incidentally, means ‘beginning and end’ in Latin, but only by prior arrangement – see the website for contact details (external link, opens in a new tab).
Admission is 50 euros per person – not cheap but it includes a guided tour by the artist himself followed by free time (all day) in which visitors can explore this large walk-in piece of art at leisure. Taking photos is allowed for private use only (including social media).
Please note that admission is for over 18-year-olds only. No under age visitors are allowed (that's because of a few rather graphic depictions.)
The location, roughly halfway between Frankfurt and Koblenz, is somewhat provincial, so you will need your own means of transport to get there. The address is Bartelstraße 2, 65558 Lohrheim
Google Maps locator: [50.3185, 8.0488]
